Tactical Information
- As a variant of the standard Liberator, the Liberator Penetrator carries one less reserve magazine and inflicts less damage per round, but possesses the ability to pierce medium armor. Its scope is also more powerful, able to zoom at farther ranges.
- The increased armor penetration afforded by this weapon gives it enhanced damage when fighting enemies protected by light armor. Whereas the standard Liberator will inflict only 65% of its damage against lightly armored targets (resulting in roughly 45 damage per round barring any durability factors), the Liberator Penetrator will deal its full damage, giving it a 33% increased damage advantage.
- The primary advantage granted by its ability to penetrate medium armor is that it is able to inflict damage to the body parts of enemies that the standard Liberator cannot. For example, the heads of Hive Guards and the torso of all Devastator variants are immune to any damage from the standard Liberator, but can be damaged and defeated by the Liberator Penetrator.
- Beware that against unarmored enemies and body parts, the Liberator Penetrator is less effective than the standard Liberator, as its armor-piercing rounds inflict less damage.
- The increased damage of the standard Liberator allows it to defeat most medium-sized enemies in fewer shots to the same location than the Liberator Penetrator, such as Warriors and Stalkers
- Certain weak spots on various Automaton enemies are also unarmored, meaning that with precise aim the standard Liberator can still come out on top, such as when targeting the heads of Devastators and Berserkers rather than their torsos.
