Alpha Commander
“You'll face off against heavier, deadlier Brood Commanders, but with a small twist. The allies that it spawns will not be the ones you are used to.
— Johan Pilestedt and Niklas Malmborg, Escalation of Freedom Announcement Trailer
The Alpha Commander is a more durable Brood Commander. The trio of Alpha Warriors it summons are faster than their original counterparts.
Spawning
Alpha Commanders can be first found on Impossible, completely replacing Brood Commanders. They can spawn from Bug Breaches, within patrols, and guarding Objectives, Bug Nests, and Minor Places of Interest.
Behavior
Alpha Commanders behave similarly to Brood Commanders.
Alpha Commanders have slightly more health and durability compared to Brood Commanders, but otherwise behave the same. The Alpha Commander can instead summon a trio of Alpha Warriors, which are faster and potentially deadlier Warriors. Once the Alpha Commander summons the Alpha Warrior Trio, it will either engage in combat alongside them or retreat to a safe distance to continue spawning additional units. Sometimes the Alpha Commander summons Hive Guards, which usually indicates that a large number of Hive Guards and other heavily armored enemies will spawn during the mission.
Alpha Commanders are able to release a cloud of pheromones into the air that causes a Bug Breach.

Tactical Information
Alpha Commanders can be taken out with the same tactics used against the Brood Commander.
- Alpha Commanders have peculiar behavior where if not directly engaged in a patrol they will "retreat" then come back and attack the Helldiver.
- Alpha Commanders can call in a Bug Breach, even without their head.
- Alpha Commanders are capable of summoning Alpha Warriors and Hive Guards even without their head.
- While any weapon is capable of killing Alpha Commanders,
Medium armor-penetrating weapons and explosives are more effective against them due to their
Light armored heads and high durability.
- Their head, claws, and body have slightly thicker armor, reducing damage from
Light penetration weaponry.
- Destroying both claws will kill the Commander.
- Their legs are not armored, making them vulnerable to
Light penetration weaponry. Destroying a leg will significantly reduce its movement and charge speed, with further reductions for additional legs destroyed.
- Even while missing a leg, the Alpha Commander is still able to "charge," inflicting damage and its effects; this is despite not appearing to be actually charging.
- Their head, claws, and body have slightly thicker armor, reducing damage from
