Bug Hole

The Bug Hole is a  Terminid Horde exclusive structure found primarily in Bug Nests. These holes will continuously deploy new Terminid units until they are destroyed. They are usually indicated by yellow-orangish spores in-game.

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.

** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.

*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.

**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.

Tactical Information

• Bug holes can only be destroyed in two ways:
  • Damaging the inside of the bug hole:
    • With a minimum demolition force of 20, which requires an explosive damage type.
  • Damaging the outside of the bug hole:
    • With a demolition force of 40 or greater (which does NOT have to be explosive).
• There are various weapons and stratagems that can be used by Helldivers to destroy Bug Holes:
  • Throwing an explosive type grenade inside the bug hole will destroy it. Smoke Grenades, Stun Grenades, and Throwing Knives in particular do not have a high enough demolition force to close bug holes.
  • Shooting a grenade inside the bug hole with the GL-21 Grenade Launcher or GP-31 Grenade Pistol will destroy it. The GL-52 De-Escalator in particular does not do not have a high enough demolition force to close bug holes.
  • Shooting explosive weaponry into the bug hole will destroy it. The R-36 Eruptor, AC-8 Autocannon, CB-9 Exploding Crossbow, and GR-8 Recoilless Rifle are among several weapons that can close bug holes.
  • Certain Stratagems or weapons with a demo force of 40 or greater to destroy the hole from the outside such as Eagle Airstrikes, Eagle Napalm Airstrikes, Eagle Smoke Strikes, Eagle 500kg Bombs, Orbital Laser, Orbital Gas Strike, Orbital Precision Strike, 120mm, 380mm, and Walking Barrages, FAF-14 Spear, B-100 Portable Hellbomb or the GP-20 Ultimatum.
  • Hellpod Stratagems like the Resupply, or any Support Weapon Hellpod can be used to close the hole, given the Hellpod lands on the bug hole. Helldivers are advised that they may not have access to what the Hellpod would've supplied if they do this.
  • Helldivers are advised that deploying Eagle/Orbital/Defensive Stratagems while other Helldivers are present may result in accidents.

Medium Bug Hole

• Medium Bug Holes will typically spawn Brood Commanders, Bile Spewers and Nursing Spewers. Starting on Impossible, Brood Commanders are replaced by its variant, the Alpha Commander.
  • If the Medium Bug is part of a Stalker Lair, it will spawn Stalkers.

Bile Titan Bug Hole

• Bile Titan Bug Hole will typically spawn Bile Titans.
  • If the Dragonroach is active on the planet, Bile Titan Bug Hole will spawn Chargers.

Artificial Bug Hole

The Artificial Bug Hole variant can only be found in the tutorial. It is impossible to jump into one. It will close once it detects a grenade explosion inside itself.

Bile Titan Bug Hole

The Bile Titan Bug Hole can be found on Extreme missions and above, in specific heavy Nests and mega Nests. Instead of spawning small Terminids, it will spawn Bile Titans. It is much bigger than standard Bug Holes and requires at least Demolition Force 40 to destroy.

• Worth noting is that Hellpods have a demolition force of 40. Therefore, calling down a Hellpod Stratagem onto the Bile Titan Hole will close it, though as mentioned earlier on this page, the called-down stratagem itself might become inaccessible.
• It is also possible to have a Bile Titan carcass crash down onto the hole and close it. This can be achieved by taking down a guarding bile titan without alerting it first, or eliminating one as it emerges from the bug hole.

Medium Bug Hole

The Medium Bug Hole can be found on Challenging or above as part of Stalker Lairs, in Heavy Nests, or Mega Nests

The Medium Bug Hole shares the same stats as a small Bug Hole.
