Bunker Turret

The Bunker Turret is an Automaton weapon system present at Automaton structures.

Spawning

It is most commonly seen atop Command Bunkers, but have a chance to spawn at Automaton occupied Minor Place of Interests, which start appearing at Suicide Difficulty Icon.svg Suicide Mission difficulty and on Super Helldive Difficulty Icon.svg Super Helldive difficulty will begin to appear on Automaton Fortresses.

Behavior

The Bunker Turret slowly fires two times before cooling down for roughly five seconds, and has very little warning of when it is going to fire at Helldivers, besides it aiming at them.

Weapons Loadout

Fusion Falconet

Often found in fortified positions. Fusion Falconets are a relatively uncommon anti-vehicle weapon, capable of penetrating medium armour or laying down explosive fire with ease. Albeit its slow refire rate makes it seldom seen outside of Fortresses

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.
** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.
*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.
**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.


Tactical Information

  • The majority of the Bunker Turret is covered in Armor AV4 Icon.png Heavy armor, while having Armor AV3 Icon.png Medium weakspots on the back, therefore any Armor AP4 Icon.png Heavy armor-penetrating weapon such as the AC-8 Autocannon and LAS-98 Laser Cannon can destroy them effectively
    • Any anti-tank weapon can 1-shot the turret.
    • The RS-422 Railgun requires an 80% charge shot to destroy.
    • The PLAS-45 Epoch requires a fully-charged shot.
  • Weapons with Armor AV3 Icon.png Medium penetration can still kill a Bunker Turret from range however because they can only damage them from the back a helldiver will have to flank behind them.
    • Due to their tactical placement Bunker Turrets are very hard to take out with only Armor AV3 Icon.png Medium weaponry as you will have to sneak past them or use alternate means to scrap them.
    • Bunker Turret can only turn 180 degrees so you can be behind one safely and destroy it
  • Bunker Turrets can also be destroyed by any of the offensive Stratagems, Emplacement Stratagems, as well as the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines if using handheld weapons aren't a viable option or to save ammo.
  • Damaging Grenades that have Armor AV4 Icon.png Heavy or above can destroy Bunker Turret.
    • Thermite can 1-shot Bunker Turret if it sticks to it
    • Both G-12 High Explosive and TED-63 Dynamite can also 1-shot Bunker Turret but requires them to detonate very close to the structure, typically by cooking the grenade and throwing it so it explodes in the air.
  • The Turret's laser can instantly kill a Helldiver depending on their Armor Rating and make quick work of any vehicle such as the M-102 Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle making this turret a high-priority threat. Especially on Fortresses.
  • The Turret's barrel depression can unintentionally clip through its base, causing it to sometimes fire even lower than expected.
  • Bunker Turret only have a limited range of around 150m so using a long range weapon such as the APW-1 Anti-Materiel Rifle, can destroy the turrets from afar before they become a threat.
  • The turrets also blend quite well into the background at night so can be hard to spot. The StA-X3 W.A.S.P. Launcher, which can lock onto the easily hidden turrets and destroy them in 2 shots.
    • Bunker Turret appears as a small dot on the radar making tracking them down much harder.
    • Because it counts as a small enemy FAF-14 Spear is incapable of locking onto Bunker Turret so user will have to find alternate means of destroying them.

Trivia

  • The Turret has no official name; it is simply referred to as "Enemy Unit" in-game, and dying to it reads "Killed by UNKNOWN".
  • Before the Escalation of Freedom update, Bunker Turrets at Minor Place of Interests did not function, but could still be destroyed.
