The Heavy Devastator is a medium Automaton icon.png Automaton and a variant of the Devastator, equipped with a fusion machine gun and a large ballistic shield.

Spawning

Heavy Devastators can be first found on Trivial Difficulty Icon.pngTrivial as the Mission Target of the Eliminate Devastators mission.

Starting on Challenging Difficulty Icon.pngChallenging, Heavy Devastators, alongside Rocket Devastators, will have a chance of replacing Devastators. This chance increases the higher the difficulty. Heavy Devastators can spawn from Bot Drops, within patrols, and guarding Automaton Outposts, Objectives, and Minor Places of Interest.

If a planet is invaded by the Automaton icon.pngIncineration Corps Icon.png Incineration Corps, Heavy Devastators are replaced by Conflagration Devastators starting on Trivial Difficulty Icon.pngTrivial, and additionally by Incendiary MG Devastators starting on Medium Difficulty Icon.pngMedium.

Behavior

Heavy Devastators will slowly but constantly push if a Helldiver is within their line of sight, firing a deadly volley from their machine gun for three seconds, before cooling down for two seconds.

Heavy Devastators can bash Helldivers with their shield if they're too close, knocking them down. They can also stomp on Helldivers if they are prone.

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.
** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.
*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.
**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.

Tactical Information

Heavy Devastator

  • The Heavy Devastator can be a nuisance even at significant range, as their machine gun volleys can potentially hit and cause Helldivers to flinch multiple times.
    • This can most notably prevent Helldivers from stimming, making them extremely dangerous when Helldivers are surrounded by various Automatons.
    • They are also able to fire through their shields if walking towards Helldivers at a certain angle, meaning that staying on their left side does not guarantee safety.
  • Multiple Heavy Devastators can easily cover each others' machine gun cooldowns, leading to a nigh-endless amount of projectiles being fired.
  • Heavy Devastators are vulnerable to flanking, especially with the assistance of another Helldiver. Their backpack can be damaged by any weapon and destroying it will also destroy the Heavy Devastator.
  • Explosives can stagger Heavy Devastators, causing them to lower their shield and leaving themselves open, in addition to dealing some explosive damage.
    • Shooting their shield with explosive weaponry achieves the same effect.
  • Shooting the Heavy Devastator's shield with ballistic weaponry will deal no damage to it and the Heavy Devastator.

Devastators

  • A significant number of weapons can destroy a Devastator with a single headshot, such as the P-4 Senator and R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper, so precision is highly rewarded; this is especially so with the Heavy Devastator and its Automaton icon.pngIncineration Corps Icon.png Incineration Corps variants. Their stomach and pelvis is still vulnerable to any weapon, but it is usually unfeasible for Helldivers to aim at due to the ballistic shield.
  • Similar to other Devastators, the Heavy Devastator's weapon can be shot off, which may be preferable if a Helldiver is unable to land a headshot.
