Hunter

The pesky Hunters are known to dodge incoming fire with swift leaps. Scientists note that while this behavior might appear intelligent, it is merely a base instinct, akin to a housefly avoiding an incoming swat.

The Hunter is a medium-sized Terminid that can use its wings to flank and pounce on Helldivers.

Spawning

Hunters can be first found on Medium Difficulty Icon.pngMedium. They can spawn from Bug Breaches, within patrols, guarding Bug Nests and Objectives, or from specific Bug Holes.

Starting on Challenging Difficulty Icon.pngChallenging, they can be found guarding Minor Places of Interest.

Behavior

Hunters will mainly attempt to flank and surround Helldivers, moving faster than other Terminids. While approaching Helldivers, they are able to quickly strafe sideways or perform short jumps, which can throw off a Helldiver's aim. Upon reaching about 15-20m from Helldivers, they will pounce onto them, dealing damage, and can quickly follow up with another attack from their claws or tongues.

Hunters can use their tongues at short-medium range, which causes an Acid burn that will slow Helldivers; they can use their claws at extremely close range, usually when next to a Helldiver.

Hunters are able to release a cloud of pheromones into the air that causes a Bug Breach.

Tactical Information

  • Hunters are relatively weak when compared to Warriors and other medium-sized Terminids. Shooting their heads will quickly dispatch them.
  • Shooting the legs of a Hunter will greatly slow them and prevent them from performing a pounce.
  • Hunters are weak if encountered alone, but should be prioritized within swarms over other medium-sized Terminids, due to their ability to quickly approach and pounce Helldivers.
  • Using a melee attack will momentarily stun the Hunter and knock them back. Though difficult, Helldivers can melee Hunters mid-pounce to prevent its attack.

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.
** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.
*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.
**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.
