Functionality

The M-1000 Maxigun boasts extremely high rate of fire and an ammunition reserve of 750 rounds. As a backpack belt-fed weapon, it has the unique feature that it does not need to be manually reloaded like other backpack-reliant support weapons; however, it cannot be fired without its ammunition backpack equipped. When the M-1000 Maxigun and its ammunition backpack are first picked up, it will play a roughly 1-second animation of the backpack rotating and the Helldiver inserting the ammunition feed chute into the weapon. The M-1000 Maxigun is also the first support weapon that "locks you down" to fire it, preventing you from moving but allowing you to rotate, elevate, and depress your weapon.

Tactical Information

  • Due to the Maxigun's extremely high rate of fire and by comparison relatively mediocre capacity, it is recommended to stay near ammo boxes, a Resupply, or a Helldiver carrying a B-1 Supply Pack.
  • The Maxigun continuously feeds ammunition from its backpack, which means an ally supplying ammunition via the B-1 Supply Pack can keep the Maxigun continuously firing.
    • Picking up an ammo box will restore 200 rounds directly to the backpack.
  • The Maxigun has a brief 0.5s spin-up period before it begins to fire.
    • This can be mitigated by spinning up while performing a dive. Which also simulates the recoil reduction of being prone.
  • The Maxigun has extremely high recoil so ADS or Prone is recommended to reduce recoil or to use recoil reducing Armor Passives such as Engineering Kit or Fortified.
    • The Peak Physique passive significantly improves handling, allowing for extremely fast targeting. The passive also assists with minor recoil recovery and overal control.
  • You cannot move at all while firing the Maxigun, but can still aim in any direction and transition between prone, crouching, and standing positions.
  • As the Maxigun leaves you stationary during usage, it is advised to equip armor passives which reduce incoming damage like Fortified, as well as prone to take cover. Not only does this reduce the size of your profile, it reduces the high recoil of the Maxigun.
  • It takes exactly 30 seconds of sustained fire with a full backpack to empty.
  • The maxigun excels at the destruction of many small to medium targets and delivering extremely high DPS on lightly armored weakpoints.
    • The Maxigun's bullets cannot reliably penetrate corpses, so it is advised to keep a reasonable distance when fighting large hordes of bugs.

Known Issue

  • Leaning out of the M-102 Fast Reconnaissance Vehicle resets the link to the M-1000 Maxigun making the Helldiver have to constantly re-attach the belt to the M-1000 Maxigun which will most likely get patched out eventually.

Trivia

  • The name “Maxigun” is likely a play on the real-life M134 Minigun, a similar rotary machine gun often depicted as man-portable in pop culture.
