Lore
Explosives Repository for Anti-Tank Mines
Super Earth High Command notified Helldivers of an explosive repository on Marfark, thanks to intercepted Automaton communications. The repository contains the crucial explosive materials from Choohe required for the production of the long-delayed MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines. However, High Command also notified Helldivers of trapped citizens (and children) on Vernen Wells. Under a Major Order, Helldivers would only have time to save one--the civilians trapped in the Super Citizen Anne's Hospital for Very Sick Children on Vernen Wells, or the explosive repository on Marfark.
Upon liberating Aesir Pass, Helldivers quickly descended onto Vernen Wells, rescuing its trapped citizens and children in roughly two days. Helldivers would then attempt to liberate Marfark to capture its repository. The Automatons noticed the attempt and began to transport the explosive materials somewhere deeper into their galactic territory. Despite their efforts, Helldivers were unable to capture the repository in time, delaying the MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines for the third time. As a result of multiple delays, Super Earth's factories dedicated for the mines were shuttered and its employees reassigned.
