Overseer

Centuries old, Overseers are formidable, calculating warriors armed with arcane weaponry. They bend the Voteless to their will, using them as expendable shields in a craven attempt to conserve their own numbers.

The Overseer is a medium infantry Illuminate equipped with an energy staff that acts as both a ranged and melee weapon. The overseer additionally carries an energy shield on its left arm, which it will use to protect itself when not firing.

Spawning

Overseers spawn via patrols, specific mission objectives, Grounded Warp Ships, and Warp Ship reinforcements.

Behavior

Overseers fire single, high damage projectiles from their staves when at range, after a minor charge-up delay. When receiving heavy fire, Overseers raise their collapsible energy shields which covers their upper and middle body.

When facing Helldivers at close range, Overseers will charge towards them and use their staff as a melee weapon, swinging in quick, wide sweeps.

If they notice a Helldiver they will point towards them with their staff and order nearby Voteless to attack.

Tactical Information

  • During face-to-face firefights, thanks to the somewhat slower projectile travel time, with enough practice it is possible to avoid all the ranged-damage by simply side-stepping just before the projectiles leave the staves.
  • Overseers are formidable close-range adversaries, as their melee combo will knock Helldivers to the ground, and follow-up hits usually kill them before they have a chance to recover.
    • If enough armor plating has been stripped away, the Helldiver's own melee will stagger Overseers.
      • For more consistent successful staggering, proper stun-capable melee-weapons such as CQC-19 Stun Lance and CQC-30 Stun Baton are highly recommended. Only one connecting melee-hit with either of these melee-weapons stuns an Overseer for long enough to allow repositioning further to safe distance and finish with explosives like CB-9 Exploding Crossbow.
  • Weapons that deal explosion damage such as the PLAS-1 Scorcher are highly effective against Overseers, because it directly damages main health.
  • High fire-rate weapons like the MG-43 Machine gun or the standard AR-23 Liberator are very effective at shredding their armor and flesh once exposed.
  • Overseers cover the weakest part of their body - the head - with a Armor AV3 Icon.png Medium armored head. High damage Armor AV3 Icon.png Medium armor-penetrating or higher weapons can destroy their head in a single shot.
  • The Overseer's shield is not large enough to cover its legs, allowing Helldivers to continue dealing damage to it while the shield is active.
    • Alternatively any SEAF-asset closing in within 10-meters forces an Overseer to lower / deactivate the shield.

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.
** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.
*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.
**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.
