Functionality
- The P-92 Warrant is unique in that it's the only loadout weapon with the ability to lock onto enemies by aiming down the sights.
- The Warrant has two firing modes: Guided and Non-Guided.
- Guided mode
- Disables the gun from firing unless it has locked onto a valid target. A 'valid target' is any Small, Medium, or Large size enemy - it cannot lock on to Massive enemies.
- Maximum lock-on distance is 60 meters.
- The lock-on time is extremely fast - approximately half a second, and almost instant for follow-up shots on targets that were near the first.
- Shots will steer towards the targeted enemy, curving in mid-air. The degree at which bullets swerve is limited, and doesn't exceed 40°~ of curvature.
- Once a lock is set, it will not acquire a different target unless the user stops aiming, breaks line-of-sight with the target, or the target is killed.
- As with all weaponry with lock-on capabilities, guided shots always target center mass rather than weak points. This makes it very unlikely to hit the most vulnerable area of an enemy. Some Terminids are an exception to this due to their large heads and quadrupedal posture.
- Non-Guided mode
- Allows the user to fire the pistol freely, like any other firearm. When switching to this mode, the optic sight flips down.

Tactical Information
- Despite being a
Medium penetrating weapon, the Warrant is most efficient at clearing out smaller enemies at mid-range. This makes it exceptionally useful on low Difficulty missions. A Helldiver needs merely aim in the rough direction of their enemies. The targeting system does the rest.
- Scavengers and Pouncers take only one hit to kill. Automaton Troopers rarely take more than two shots before falling. Most Voteless will begin to bleed out after only two shots to the chest, but can take up to four shots to put down instantaneously.
- Terminid Warriors of most varieties can be slain in less than three shots, but only if their head is facing the wielder.
- The most practical use cases for the guided mode are:
- Hitting targets that are difficult to land shots on due to their mobility, such as Elevated Overseers, Watchers, Shriekers etc.
- Targeting units in low visibility conditions, such as on planets with a lot of dust or fog, at night, or while in Blizzards / Sandstorms.
- Even when not directly aiding in combat, the lock-on can serve as a niche scouting tool, detecting enemies that otherwise may be difficult to spot. Notably, it can lock-on to Stalkers even while they're invisible.
- Guided mode can be a hindrance in some other cases:
- The lock-on circle on the HUD can indicate a lock on an enemy that is near the edge of the circle at any range. In close quarters, this is too far off-target for the guidance system to compensate for. The wielder will have to both aim manually and have a valid lock on in order to score a hit in this situation.
- The guided mode is also not infallible at extended ranges. Targets that are moving laterally may still require leading in order for projectiles to hit. Approaching, retreating, and stationary enemies are most likely to be hit.
- Enemies behind partial cover may not be exposed enough for the targeting system to lock on to them. Ranged enemies in this scenario can attack with impunity unless the weapon is on unguided mode.
- Heavy Devastators are worth particular mention in this context. They can occupy a target lock in addition to being very difficult to angle guided shots around their shield.
- Guided mode's requirement that the weapon be sighted makes it impossible to fire the weapon without slowing to a walking pace. Against Berserkers and other resilient, aggressive enemies, it may be wiser to switch to unguided mode and fire while running.
- Over-reliance on the guidance system may atrophy one's aiming skills. Using the ARC-12 Blitzer, ARC-3 Arc Thrower, and a Guard Dog backpack in addition to this sidearm is not advised for any prolonged amount of time.
Trivia
- The functionality of the Warrant is similar to that of the Smart Pistol from the Titanfall series.
- The P-92 Warrant is the second firearm obtainable from the Superstore, the first being the limited time crossover exclusive StA-52 Assault Rifle.
- The P-92 Warrant along with its related superstore items appear to reference Judge Dredd from the 2000 AD comic, with the P-92 Warrant specifically resembling Dredd's signature Lawgiver pistol. It differs from its source material in that it does not have the ability to switch between multiple exotic ammunition types on demand.
- Its in-game armory description describing the methodology of delivering its jet propelled ammunition exists in real life via the now discontinued GyroJet, a unique family of firearms designed to fire specialized mini-rockets termed Microjets which are lightweight and possess little recoil. Unlike its real life parallel however, the P-92 Warrant appears to have recoil and a system for guiding its projectiles towards viable targets.

Known Issues
- As of version 1.003.101, The P-92 Warrant's Non-Guided rounds are able to penetrate through enemies and their hitboxes, regardless of their armor class.[1]
- The round stops at the first obstacle hit, and then continues to do damage a short distance after impact, similar to melee weapons. Hitboxes under armor, such as Charger legs and inner flesh are the best examples of this.
Additionally, the P-92 Warrant's reticle whilst using its Non-Guided mode is bugged, moving towards Heavy and above enemies in view and turning green as if using the Guided mode.Fixed as of PATCH 01.003.103
