Penrose Energy Siphon
“It's a giant rocket that we put close enough to the Singularity to be swept up in its rotation, but not so close that it falls in, and then blasts back out using tons and tons of E-710, thereby stealing some of the Singularity's energy. Hail Super Earth.
— SE Scientist describing the Siphon from Major Order A2-3-3
The Penrose Energy Siphon is a large single-use space structure designed to combat the Meridian Singularity.
Lore
Hold Planets to Build the Penrose Energy Siphon
As part of a multi stage plan to combat the movement of the Meridian Singularity, the Penrose Energy Siphon would be constructed. Parts of the system would be spread across several planets, namely Achernar Secundus, Ursica XI, Fenrir III, and Heeth. Helldivers were ordered to hold the planets in order to facilitate construction.
Helldivers would successfully hold the planets, allowing the construction to go smoothly. The parts of the rocket would be assembled in the orbit of Ivis, however it would need a massive amount of fuel to be gathered.
Defend Against the Incineration Corps or Collect E-710 to Power the Penrose Energy Siphon
Helldivers were ordered between two choices, either defend against the Automaton offensive or gather enough E-170. Both orders failed.
Trivia
- The Penrose Energy Siphon and its mechanic is based off of the Penrose Process, a theoretical for harvesting energy from a black hole.
