Rocket Devastator

The Rocket Devastator is a medium Automaton icon.png Automaton and a variant of the Devastator, equipped with rocket pods and a double-barreled fusion arm cannon.

Spawning

Rocket Devastators can be first found on Trivial Difficulty Icon.pngTrivial as the Mission Target of the Eliminate Devastators mission.

Starting on Challenging Difficulty Icon.pngChallenging, Rocket Devastators, alongside Heavy Devastators, will have a chance of replacing Devastators. This chance increases the higher the difficulty. Rocket Devastators can spawn from Bot Drops, within patrols, and guarding Automaton Outposts, Objectives, and Minor Places of Interest.

Behavior

Rocket Devastators will often fire their rockets first when it spots a Helldiver. Before firing its rockets, it takes one second to put itself into a firing position, then sends a four rocket salvo towards a Helldiver. After this, it takes four to five seconds before firing another salvo. Between salvos, it will occasionally fire its arm cannon twice. After firing all twelve of its rockets, it will reload its rocket pods once. Once it exhausts these rockets, it will begin using only its arm cannon.

Devastators are able to punch Helldivers if they're too close, knocking them down. They can also stomp on Helldivers if they are prone.

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.
** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.
*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.
**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.

Tactical Information

Rocket Devastator

  • Rocket Devastators are accurate and deadly even at range, and its rockets can leave Helldivers vulnerable to other Automaton icon.png Automatons if they're knocked off their feet. They should be considered a high-priority target at all times. In a pinch, any weapon can be used to destroy their rocket pods, essentially reducing it to a Devastator.
    • Alternatively, Helldivers can peek in and out of thick cover to waste a Rocket Devastator's ammo.

Devastators

  • Devastator torsos are clad in Armor AV3 Icon.png Medium armor, but their head, pelvis, and stomach are Armor AV1 Icon.png Unarmored II armor. A significant number of weapons can destroy a Devastator with a single headshot, such as the P-4 Senator and R-63CS Diligence Counter Sniper, so precision is highly rewarded. This carries some risk, however, as missed headshots will be deflected by their torso armor. Stomach shots can provide a more consistent method to destroy them.
  • If Helldivers are unable to quickly kill a Devastator, staggering them while dealing damage is a reliable strategy. The most notable candidates for this are variants of the SG-8 Punisher. With sustained fire, the Devastator can be kept off-balance, preventing it from accurately firing its weaponry until sufficient damage or a more precise headshot can be landed.
  • The CB-9 Exploding Crossbow is excellent at destroying Devastators, as 2 shots on their torso will usually kill them and the blast will stagger other Devastators nearby.
  • The use of explosive weapons on the hips/legs can rapidly deconstruct most Devastators.
  • The LAS-16 Sickle and LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle can efficiently destroy Devastators with shots to their head and legs, however their low accuracy can make them less reliable when in the heat of battle.

Trivia

  • Rocket Devastators can appear on planets invaded by the Automaton icon.pngIncineration Corps Icon.png Incineration Corps. However, they function the same, differing only by the red and white color scheme and insignia of the Corps.
