Shrieker

From Helldivers Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

A new strain of flying Terminids has suddenly appeared across all Terminid planets, with no prior warning or indication of any kind. While the Ministry of Intelligence has always known this issue was a possibility, the abruptness of the evolution indicates a high possibility of dissident concealment. The deployment of Termicide was fortuitously timed—doubtlessly, it averted an even worse evolution. Helldivers are advised to exterminate these mutations whenever encountered.

— Super Earth Dispatch

The Shrieker is a medium, flying Terminid that engages in hit-and-run tactics, diving in to attack Helldivers before flying back up to the skies.

Spawning

Shriekers can be found spawning from Shrieker Nests, which begin appearing on Challenging Difficulty Icon.pngChallenging. Helldivers that are roughly within 150m will cause a Nest to begin spawning Shriekers.

Starting on Hard Difficulty Icon.pngHard, operations may have the Roving Shriekers Operation Modifier, which spawns groups of Shriekers that patrol the map.

Behavior

Once a Shrieker has marked a Helldiver as their target, they circle around occasionally diving into fly-by-slashing Helldivers with their hind-legs. Generally these legs always target and hit the arms of Helldivers.

The corpses of Shrieker are able to deal damage to anything they fall onto.

Tactical Information

  • Shriekers lack any sort of armor and can be taken out by most weaponry.
  • The A/MG-43 Machine Gun Sentry, A/G-16 Gatling Sentry , and an ACR-3 Ark Thrower are effective at taking out swarms of Shriekers.
  • Rocks or physical objects can be used to break line-of-sight from Shriekers, preventing them from attacking in the direction of said obstruction.
  • Laying prone on the ground will make a Helldiver harder for Shriekers to hit.
  • Killing a Shrieker in the middle of its dive attack will cause it to plummet directly towards the Helldiver that killed it. Helldivers are advised to move or dive to avoid a Shrieker's corpse from dealing unnecessary damage.

* Parts with their HP listed as "Main" do not have their own individual health. All damage dealt to these parts is transferred to the enemy's Main health pool.
** Refer to armor values and enemy durability as defined in Damage.
*** The percentage of damage that is applied to the enemy's Main health pool. At 0 HP, the enemy dies. Unless the enemy has constitution, then it will bleedout and die.
**** ExDR means explosive damage resistance, this is a percentage between 0 and 100. If this value is 100%, the part is explosive immune, meaning explosives cannot damage it. Explosions will only directly damage Main health if it is internal.

Lore

Shriekers began to slowly appear during the deployment of the Terminid Control System, a network of Termicide-dispensing towers established across the Barrier Planets as part of Operation Valiant Enclosure. Once the Terminid Control System had been fully activated across all four planets, the presence of Shriekers and Shrieker Nests on Terminid planets increased as a result, without any official acknowledgement by Super Earth.

It would not be until late into the ensuing Major Order to liberate Zagon Prime and Fori Prime that Super Earth would acknowledge the new strain of Terminid. The acknowledgement came in the form of a dispatch where it was claimed that the Termicide had averted a worse evolution, blaming dissidents for their radio silence.
