Gemma was attacked by the Illuminate as part of their resurgence across the galactic south. The force of this singular incursion was enough to thwart the Helldivers' attempts at mounting a defense.
While it remains under Super Earth control, it is assumed that the colonies of this world were pillaged by the Illuminate.
