Samples
Samples are resources obtained in missions and are used to permanently upgrade the Helldiver's Ship Modules. There are three obtainable samples: Common, Rare, and Super. These Samples are capped at 500 for Common Samples, 250 for Rare Samples and 100 for Super Samples. You will need to spend 1,380 Common Samples, 770 Rare Samples, and 65 Super Samples to unlock the first 18 ship modules.
Common Samples
Common Samples have a green icon and may be found on any of the nine difficulty levels. When found in missions, they can be identified by the icon of a white circle split down the middle.

Rare Samples
Rare Samples have an orange icon, and may be found on Challenging difficulty or higher. When found in missions, they can be identified by the icon of a white square with the bottom-left corner split off. There are also undocumented Rare Samples found at Minor Places of Interest, specifically inside Pods, Containers, and Bunkers. Undocumented Rare Samples do not count towards the Sample Counter on the top right corner displayed during a mission.

Super Samples

Super Samples, also known as Super Uranium, have a pink icon, and may be found on Suicide Mission difficulty or higher. When found in missions, they can be identified by the icon of four white squares. They always appear as a pool of liquid metal on the ground, with a blob of the stuff floating above it.

Super Samples are only found at one specific Minor Place of Interest; a rock similar in shape of a chicken drumstick with silvery veins running across it. This rock may rarely spawn below Suicide difficulty containing no Super Samples, but only on Suicide and above is it guaranteed to appear and always has these Super Samples. Experienced Helldivers may also immediately find this rock on the minimap.
There is also one similarly looking rock, which does not contain the Super Samples. It is claimed by the Terminids and contains some supplies.
- On Suicide Mission, 3 Super Samples will appear.
- On Impossible, 5 Super Samples will appear.
- On Helldive, 6 Super Samples will appear.

- There is one achievement associated with Common Samples: 'Science is done by quantity' awarded for extracting with 15 Common Samples from a single mission.
