Malevelon Creek Memorial Day is a Super Earth holiday celebrated on April 3. The day commemorates the heroic sacrifice of countless Helldivers who have died in the effort to liberate Malevelon Creek.
Origin
The fight for Malevelon Creek earned its significance when the planet became a meme as the playerbase dubbed it "space Vietnam". The reason for that was its lush jungle environment mixed with the frantic gameplay against the Automatons, where the enemy would often shoot through the thicket of trees from indiscernible directions, resembling the chaos of the Vietnam war.
Malevelon Creek eventually became a target of a major order, which led to the climactic liberation the community managed to accomplish in mere hours. After that campaign, Arrowhead Studios decided to honor the beloved meme and made it part of the official lore of the game. A presidential decree sent as an in-game dispatch established April 3 as Malevelon Creek Memorial Day and all players were awarded the Fallen Hero's Vengeance cape in honor of the event.
