The Helldivers are the elite fighting force of the Super Earth Armed Forces in both Helldivers 1 and Helldivers 2.
Overview
“Our pride, the Helldivers are the scalpel of the military might of Super Earth, young men and women are drafted from the army and navy corps to do their part, in the facing of a galaxy that is set on destroying Super Earth. Helldivers drop into battle using the iconic Hellpods, shock-absorbing tubes that break the atmosphere at extreme velocities only to crack the ground where they open to reveal their heroic cargo.
The Super Earth Armed Forces' (SEAF) Helldiver Corps are an elite fighting force of shock troopers renown for their bravery and incredible dedication to Super Earth. Trained in the harshest conditions, they execute Missions far behind enemy lines. While entering a mission, Helldivers enter through Hellpods fired from their personal Super Destroyer.
From there, they are to accomplish their objectives behind enemy lines while disrupting hostile presence on the planet as much as possible, all in the name of working towards securing planets for the interests of Super Earth. While fighting, they are almost always heavily outnumbered and outgunned, against hundreds of foes with entrenched positions. In the event that a Helldiver is to give their life in battle, more Helldivers are on standby to once more to replace their fallen ally.
Super Earth ensures that the Helldivers are well equipped. Every Helldiver is armed with Weapons and Armor of their choice. They are also equipped with beacons, with which Helldivers activate to call-in Stratagems.
In Super Earth society, Helldivers are hailed as heroes of the fallen and martyrs for Super Earth.
Helldiver Contract of Employment
In Helldivers 2, a contract of employment is displayed on large, black plaques in the Graduation Area of the Mars Training Facility (SEAF Base). The entry is free to read here.
History
“Have I told you about the Hellpods yet? These massive near-suicidal pods were invented to counter the threat of the oppressive regime of the socialists that had dug themselves in on Northman's Creek. Super Earth was unable to gain air superiority and therefore we developed these supersonic pods equipped with stabilizers and extreme shock absorbers that can hit a space-coin and allow for drops into basically any type of terrain. As fifty Helldivers dropped into the Parliament and quickly relieved the regime from power... and life, their troops scattered and the fight was easily won. Northman's Creek was once again united with the federation of Super Earth.
The Helldivers have their origin in their 'less patriotic ancestors', the Super Earth Legion. Details on the legion are currently scarce, however their armor is sold on the Superstore as the SC-37 Legionnaire armor.
It is known that sometime before the First Galactic War, Super Earth's Army Tactical Command formed the Helldiver Corps out of the Super Earth legion.
Hellpods
While the date of which is unclear, The Hellpods used by the Helldivers where originally developed to counter an oppressive regime of socialists that had dug themselves in on Northman's Creek. Fifty Helldivers dropped into the Parliament to relieve the regime leaders of their lives.
Aftermath of the First Galactic War
“I can't believe I'm here for the first real Helldiver activation in a hundred years. Of course there were the patriotism parades and anti-dissidence operations, but this- this is the real thing."
Following the victory in the First Galactic War, the Helldiver corps where officially deactivated outside of ceremonial parades and the occasional anti dissident operations.
