Fire Tornados
“
— Galactic War Map
Fire Tornados are an environmental condition that create occasional storms of Fire Tornados on Scorched Moor planets. which move slowly and (semi)randomly throughout the play area. An active Fire Tornado storm will activate the Intense Heat environmental condition for its duration, after which the condition will deactivate.
Overview
When spawned, each Fire Tornado will move around the map similar to an enemy patrol, with slightly more randomization. Wherever the Fire Tornado goes, it will leave an immolating (30-meters long, 10-meters wide) trail of flames with the immolation-lifetime of 30-seconds. Contact with the Fire Tornado or it's flame trail will result in any living entity making contact to be lit on fire; structure-entities such as A/MLS-4X Rocket Sentry won't get immolated but will suffer and won't survive the base-fire-damage without health upgrade from Advanced Contruction. Immolated Helldivers can extinguish themselves by preforming a dive.
While Fire Tornadoes are active on the map, the Intense Heat environmental condition will be active as well.
While most certainly very deadly and destructive to Helldivers and their stratagems, Fire Tornado itself lacks demolition force leaving structures in their pristine conditions (E.G. fences). In fact, Fire Tornados generally tend to avoid non-SEAF structures to begin with (E.G. Shrieker Nests).[citation needed They move randomly...]
Dealing with Fire Tornadoes
- Fire Tornadoes can go anywhere an enemy NOT chasing after a Helldiver can walk. Climbing on a rocky cliff should keep a player safe from said tornadoes.
- This can best be seen within Cities. As patrols tend to stick to the roads, so will the Fire Tornadoes. Helldivers will find themselves to be safe on the buildings.
- Should a Helldiver be unable to avoid the trail of flames, they should quickly dive to extinguish themselves.
Trivia
- The name for the in-game effect uses Tornados, the less common plural spelling of Tornado. This spelling originates from Spanish and has always been less popular than Tornadoes.

Undocumented fix
- Fixed the displacement issue of the Fire Tornados trails. The trails are now once more properly anchored to tornados itself rather than being invisible and immolating unsuspecting victims located other side of the map while the visually observed trails were only a visual nuisance.

Changes
- Fire tornados have had their behavior changed, they should no longer feel like they actively respond to player movement, and should move more randomly.
- While a fire tornado storm takes place, enemy vision is reduced. Player vision is unaffected.
