Bug Nest
“A vast network of underground hives has allowed the Terminids in this region to become entrenched, breeding and swelling in number.

The Bug Nest is a Terminid structure, which is also an optional objective. They contain a number of Bug Holes. These may periodically create Terminid of various types depending on the difficulty of the mission. Minor Places of Interest cannot spawn near structures. It also contains Bile Flowers. To complete this Optional Objective, Helldivers must destroy all Bug Holes, after which Terminids cease spawning from them. It will always have Samples within it.
Optional Objective
While in the area of operation, Helldivers may optionally destroy Bug Holes. When a Helldiver enters the Bug Nest, they will call out that they have discovered a Nest (if it wasn't marked on the map already), and the Side Objective of "Eradicate Bug Nest" pops up on the right side of the HUD. The task of the Side Objective is "Close all bug holes". Successful destruction of the Terminid Nests is rewarded in form of Experience and Requisition at the end of the mission, scaled depending on how big the Nest was.

Inside the Bug Nest, Helldivers may also find Common and Rare Samples, and sometimes even a Malfunctioning Hellpod, containing either a backpack or a support weapon.
Tactical Information
Locations
- The approximate location of Bug Nests may also be found on the minimap via red marked spots.
- The area surrounding the Bug Nest will be denoted by a green fog, as seen in the following image
- When approaching a nest, there will be a large number of undisturbed Terminids roaming within it.
- Upon noticing the helldiver, these Terminids will immediately attempt to call in a Bug Breach and the Bug Holes will begin producing additional reinforcements.
Destroying Nests
- Nests are destroyed when all Bug Holes within them are gone.
- These holes can be destroyed in a large number of ways, all revolving on the idea of getting an explosive object into the hole.
- More information on specific destruction techniques can be found on the Bug Holes page.
- The destruction of half of the nests in the entire area of operations will cause an increase of patrol spawns.
- Helldivers are advised to weigh the potential pros and cons of clearing a nest in proximity of their location vs having more patrol spawns during their mission in higher difficulties.
