A laser rifle, firing in short bursts. Does not need reloading, but if it overheats a new heat sink must be fitted.

— Armory Description

The LAS-16 Sickle is an Heat-based weapon that fires laser bursts. Unlike the other LAS group weapons, the weapon does not fire in a singular beam, and instead acts like an assault rifle, shooting targets with a barrage of projectiles.

Tactical Information

  • A Helldiver can fire the LAS-16 Sickle for about 7 seconds before it overheats and needs to be reloaded.
    • There's about a 0.5 second spin-up time before the weapon starts firing.
  • The Sickle carries a maximum of 3 reserve heatsinks.
  • Like other Heat weapons, if you stop firing before the Sickle overheats, it will slowly cool back down. This allows a careful Helldiver to maintain effectively infinite ammo.
    • If the weapon does overheat, reloading takes 2 seconds. So in an intense firefight, it may be preferable to intentionally overheat, as reloading is much faster than waiting for the Sickle to cool down.
    • It is possible to reload when your heatsink is only mildly warm, which is both a complete waste and takes about 1 second longer. Be sure not to reload unless the Sickle has overheated.
  • The Sickle's heatsink takes about 11 seconds to cool down after almost overheating.
    • On hot worlds, this cooldown period increases to about 15 seconds.
    • On cold worlds, it decreases to about 8 seconds.
  • The Sickle's sole Weapon Wheel customization is the sight's zoom level. Helldivers can choose between 25m, 50m, and 100m zoom levels.
    • An effective strategy is to use the 100m zoom for precision shooting, such as firing at Automaton heads, and simply shouldering the weapon when precision is less important. This gives you two different zoom levels that can be quickly swapped, without having to open the Weapon Wheel.
