Firing jet-propelled rounds, the Dominator trades fire rate and magazine capacity for increased damage per projectile.

The JAR-5 Dominator is a powerful semi-automatic Weapon that fires jet propelled rounds. Its high damage per shot allows it to take out all small enemies in one shot, and kill many larger enemies in a single headshot. The Dominator excels when taking time to line up shots with weakpoints, just like marksman rifles.

Tactical Information

  • The Dominator causes heavy stagger. Devastators will be stun-locked as long as you keep hitting them in the body, and Bile Spewers will have their spit attack interrupted if hit in the head. Brood Commanders will be pushed backwards when hit anywhere.
  • The reload animation takes quite a while compared to the typical primary weapon. And it's made even longer if you completely empty the gun, as Helldivers need to pull the bolt to chamber a round, too.
  • Dominator rounds will bounce when striking a surface at a shallow angle.
  • Dominator rounds have a noticeable travel time when fighting enemies at medium or long range. This makes it difficult to hit moving enemy weakpoints (such as Devastator heads) at medium or long range.
  • Although the Dominator is categorized as an explosive weapon, its rounds do not explode. However, it uniquely deals increased damage to squishy enemy parts, though not to the same extent as actual explosive weaponry.

Performance

The Dominator deals a lot of damage per shot, and has medium armor penetration, enabling it to absolutely dominate enemies that don't have heavy armor.

  • All small enemies die to a shot anywhere on their torso or head.
  • Hive Guards die to 2 headshots, though they take a few seconds to bleed out after the second.
  • Brood Commanders lose their heads after two direct hits.
  • Chargers take heavy damage when hit in the underside of their abdomen, causing them to bleed out after 10 direct hits.
  • Bile Spewers are inconsistent. It seems like they die in either 1, 2, or 3 headshots, depending on the game's mood, regardless of whether their mouth is open.
  • Devastators of all types die to a single headshot, and can typically be taken down with 4-5 body shots.
  • Annihilator Tanks and Cannon Turrets die to 6-7 shots to the vent on the back of their turret.
  • Scout Striders die to 3 shots to a leg joint, which knocks their leg off, killing them.
