Tactical Information

  • It is effective for thinning crowds of enemies, allowing Helldivers to focus on more threatening targets.
  • Laying prone is an easy way for Helldivers to avoid being caught in the sentry's crossfire.
    • Alternatively, Helldivers can stand on top of the MG-43 Sentry.
  • Like most direct fire sentries, the MG-43 Sentry has a range of 75m, requiring a direct line of sight to valid targets. Note that enemy corpses can block line of sight.
  • The MG-43 Sentry will prefer to target small and medium sized enemies but will still target heavily armored enemies if there are no other valid targets.
    • The MG-43 Sentry will keep shooting its current target until it is destroyed. This can cause significant ammo wastage if the sentry fires on a target it cannot penetrate such as Chargers and even destruction objectives like Anti-Air Emplacements.
    • The MG-43 Sentry is able to target aerial and flying units.
  • Compared to its faster firing counterpart, the A/G-16 Gatling Sentry, the MG-43 Sentry can be deployed more often due to its 60 second shorter cooldown (before upgrades).
    • This makes the MG-43 Sentry an effective getaway tool, notably for Helldivers that prefer to fight at range or in stealth. Deployed sentries do not alert patrols to the Helldiver that deployed them provided the Helldiver is not seen. Take care as the sentry can still trigger Bug Breach and Dropship Reinforcements onto itself. As sentries are classed as a utility stratagem (blue beacon) - they do not attract the attention of enemies prior to sentry deployment.
    • Heavy enemies will often prioritize attacking sentries, so the quicker cooldown may make it more attractive to use an MG-43 Sentry to distract them despite being ineffective against heavy armor.
