Reason: Format and add information to be similar to Autocannon

A manned fortification offering superior firepower against lightly armored targets. Slow to turn, so place it wisely."

— Ship Management Terminal

Unlocked at Rank 10, the E/MG-101 HMG Emplacement is a static, manually-operated machine gun turret that fires light vehicle armor-piercing ammunition.

As an Emplacement, the HMG Emplacement cannot be relocated once it has been called-in and requires a Helldiver to physically man the weapon. It cannot be reloaded, does not overheat, and has no time limit to its lifespan, but has a 300-round internal magazine that cannot be replenished; once the ammo is expended, the weapon cannot be fired and will retract into its Hellpod it once dismounted. Unlike emplacements found naturally on Automaton planets, the HMG Emplacement can be rotated a full 360º, but any turret rotation beyond minor adjustments in aim will be performed at a very slow pace.

Tactical Information

  • Each HMG Emplacement has a 300-Round internal magazine that cannot be replenished.
    • Once all of this ammunition is expended, it will retract into its Hellpod to prevent obstruction/reduce clutter.
  • Despite the description stating that it's effective against "lightly armored targets", the HMG Emplacement will pierce light vehicle armor and is even capable of quickly destroying heavy enemies via weak-spots (e.g. hitting a Hulk in the eye).
    • This armor penetration, combined with its ability to fire 300 rounds uninterrupted, makes it an extremely time- and resource-efficient method of eliminating heavy enemies.
  • The Emplacement can be considered two distinct portions; the "Turret", from which the weapon's twin barrels protrude, and the "Base", where the Helldiver stands during operation of the weapon and which determines where the gun is facing; the Turret can be aimed relatively quickly, but the Base rotates at an extremely sluggish pace. Thus, there is an approximate 120º cone directly in front of where the Base is facing where the user can aim and reacquire targets quickly, but attempting to rotate to face a direction outside of this area is extremely slow, as the Base must rotate to allow the Turret to be facing the correct direction.
    • This makes the HMG Emplacement best-suited for narrow choke-points or any other situation that minimizes the need to rotate the weapon; the Evacuate High-Value Assets Objective is a prime example.
  • The HMG Emplacement has no built-in armor or other protection, and Helldivers are largely exposed while manning it. If the weapon is destroyed, the ensuing explosion will usually result in the death of any Helldivers manning it at the time.
  • Does not have a maximum duration to its lifespan beyond its 300-round ammo count and remains active even when more HMG Emplacements are called-in by the same Helldiver. With efficient ammo usage, an HMG Emplacement's lifespan can last well into the lifespan of future HMG Emplacements.
