The LAS-99 Quasar Cannon is an anti-tank support weapon that fires a powerful explosive energy blast after a moderate charge-up time. The weapon has a long cooldown period instead of using ammunition or heat sinks.

It does not require a backpack to power or rearm the weapon. It has infinite range, meaning if you can see it, you can kill it. Its high velocity is close to being infinite like weapons using laser beams but just short of instant.[1]

Tactical Information

  • It takes 3 seconds of charging to fire, then requires 15 seconds to cool down before the next shot can be fired.
  • It has identical damage as the GR-8 Recoilless Rifle and EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank, but with different ammo and firing mechanics.
  • The cooldown period is affected by the Intense Heat (+2.50s) and Extreme Cold (-2.50s)environmental conditions.
  • You cannot "hold" the shot like the RS-422 Railgun until an opportune target appears. The cannon will always fire exactly 3 seconds after you start charging it, unless you release the trigger early, at which point it will immediately return to its original uncharged state.
  • Hitting one of a Dropship's thrusters with the Quasar Cannon will immediately destroy it, and all its occupants. If the occupants drop out first, they won't automatically be destroyed, but the Dropship falling on them won't be pleasant.
    • The same is also true for hitting a Gunship thruster.
  • Can be used to destroy Bot Fabricators if fired at the exhaust vents, similar to the AC-8 Autocannon.
  • The Quasar Cannon is very strong against heavy enemies:
    • Tanks and Cannon Turrets will die to 2 shots that hit anywhere on the turret.
    • Hulks will die to a single shot to the eye, or 2 shots to the body or rear heatsinks.
    • Factory Striders can be destroyed by 2 shots to the eye or 2 to a single undercarriage door.
      • The miniguns can be taken out by 1 shot
    • Chargers will die to a single headshot.
      • Charger Behemoths will die to 2 headshots.
    • Bile Titans will die from 2 headshots to the forehead.
    • Scout Striders can be taken out with one shot to the gun shield.

Change History




  • Fixed the Quasar Cannon to have the correct change to its heat when on hot and cold planets.



  • Intense Heat and Extreme Cold environmental modifiers will now affect the Quasar Cannon’s reload speed and will show correctly in the HUD.
    • Reload speed on Cold planets -2.5 seconds.
    • Reload speed on Hot planets +2.5 seconds.



  • Increased recharge time by 5 seconds.


  • Fixed issue where the Quasar Cannon could not shoot through foliage.
  • Explosive weapons no longer pull players inward from the blast.
