Tactical Information

  • Being an alternative to the Machine Gun, the Stalwart sacrifices individual damage-per-round and medium armor penetration for a higher rate of fire, larger magazine and the ability to reload on the move.
  • True to its name, the Stalwart has tremendous staying power, being available to stay in the fight for long periods of time due to its large magazine and generous ammo reserve.
    • The weapon has a staggering 250-round ammo belt, and carries 3 reserve boxes, for a total combat load of 1,000 rounds (with the Siege-Ready passive, up to 1,250 rounds). This means that even while far from supplies, it will almost always be ready to engage in combat with sufficient ammo.
    • The Stalwart requires 5.8 seconds to reload fully empty, and 4.4 seconds when a round remains in the chamber (a 24% reduced reload time). While this is longer than that of both the Machine Gun and Heavy Machine Gun (which require 4.6 and 5.5 seconds respectively), unlike its heavier cousins the Stalwart does not require its wielder to stop in place to replace its ammo belt. The ability to reload while running gives it a tremendous mobility and survivability advantage.
    • An Ammo Box will restore 1 reserve ammo belt, and a Resupply not upgraded with Superior Packing Methodology will restore 2. Because of its large ammo reserve, the Stalwart greatly benefits from picking up Ammo Boxes at Minor Places of Interest after clearing them of enemies.
    • Unlike its heavier cousins, the Stalwart's compact design means that it does not suffer from ergonomic issues, being able to brought to bear in any direction relatively quickly. This meshes with its fast and mobile nature, as it can engage targets in multiple directions, enhancing its wielder's mobility further.
  • A true machine gun, the Stalwart is capable of saturating a target area with a storm of bullets with minimal concern for ammo conservation. Its ability to suppress small enemies in an area can make it a strong asset for any team.
    • With its tremendous ammunition reserve and ability to reload while moving, the Stalwart shines best when fighting against Terminids, as it can mow down large numbers of unarmored to lightly armored bugs for long periods of time without reloading, and remain mobile while reloading to avoid being swarmed and surrounded. It shines best when fighting Bug Breaches, as it can keep most enemies short of a Charger or Bile Titan from emerging to become a threat.
    • The Stalwart's greatest weakness is that it cannot penetrate medium armor, making it ineffective against armored enemies like the Hive Guard. This also makes it less than ideal to use against Automatons, as many bots including Devastators have armored chestplates that the Stalwart cannot hope to penetrate.
    • Against the Illuminate, the Stalwart shines as one of the most effective weapons that can be brought to bear. It can shred swarms of Voteless with minimal effort, and tear through energy shields with almost no resistance, whether it be that of an Overseer, Harvester or Warp Ship.
  • As it is effectively a larger and faster-firing Liberator in terms of combat characteristics, the Stalwart is best employed as a replacement Primary Weapon for clearing swarms of smaller enemies. This frees up the primary slot for a weapon that is capable of penetrating medium armor, such as the Dominator, Diligence Counter Sniper, or Eruptor.
  • Depending on the situation, switching the weapon's fire rate can help to conserve ammo and reduce recoil, making the weapon last even longer. As well, crouching or going prone can help to reduce recoil, ensuring that more rounds are landing on target.
